Xavier: Light Element
Burst Timing

24 frames. That's all you get. Miss it, and you lose 40% of your damage.

01 — THE DATA

24 Frames to Perfection

Xavier isn't a character you play. He's a character you conduct. His damage isn't spread evenly across his rotation — it's concentrated into a razor-thin window that lasts less than half a second.

Frame data analysis reveals that Xavier's "Solar Beam" has a 24-frame startup. But here's the kicker: 80% of its total damage is compressed into frames 18 through 22. That's 4 frames. That's 0.066 seconds on a 60fps display.

The spike isn't subtle. From frame 18 to 22, the damage curve goes vertical. That's your window. That's everything.

02 — THE PROBLEM

Why Burst Timing Matters

Here's what most players don't realize: Xavier's core multipliers are locked behind his active skill animations. You can't just press buttons and hope for the best. The game checks — frame by frame — whether your resonance skill lands during the enemy's vulnerability break window.

If you're even 5 frames late? The multiplier drops. If you're 10 frames early? The enemy hasn't entered the window yet. You get nothing. The difference between a perfectly timed Solar Beam and a mistimed one is roughly 40% total damage output.

THE MATH
Perfect timing: 100% damage potential
Missed by 0.1s: ≈60% damage potential
Missed by 0.2s: ≈45% damage potential

This is why Xavier has such a polarized player base. Some swear he's the strongest character in the game. Others call him inconsistent and clunky. Both are right — it just depends on whether you've learned to read the frames.

03 — THE SOLUTION

How to Train Your Timing

You can't learn this overnight. Here's what actually worked for me after weeks of practice.

STEP 1 — WATCH THE ENEMY, NOT YOUR COOLDOWNS
Every enemy has a visual tell before their vulnerability window opens. Learn it. Memorize it. Don't look at your skill bar.
STEP 2 — COUNT IN YOUR HEAD
"One, two, three — GO." Find the rhythm of the boss's attack patterns. Most have a 1.2-1.5 second cycle.
STEP 3 — PRACTICE ON OLD FLOORS
Don't learn on Floor 15. Go back to Floor 1. Reset until you can hit the window 10 times in a row without fail.
STEP 4 — RECORD YOUR GAMEPLAY
Watch your replays in slow motion. Count the frames between the enemy's tell and your skill activation. You'll see your mistakes immediately.
04 — THE BUILD

What to Prioritize

If you're playing Xavier, your build needs to reflect his playstyle. Consistent DPS stats are wasted on a burst character.

STATPRIORITYWHY
CRIT Rate★★★★★Your burst window only gives you 1-2 chances. Make them count.
CRIT DMG★★★★☆Once you hit 65% CRIT, pour everything here.
ATK%★★★☆☆Consistent but less impactful than CRIT for burst.
Energy Regen★★☆☆☆Nice to have but not essential. Learn the rotation instead.
DEF/HP★☆☆☆☆If you're getting hit, you're not playing Xavier correctly.
RECOMMENDED PROTOCORES
Slot 1 (Triangle): CRIT Rate main stat
Slot 2 (Square): Light DMG%
Slot 3 (Circle): CRIT DMG
Slot 4 (Diamond): ATK% or more CRIT Rate
05 — THE MISTAKES

What Not to Do

I made every single one of these. Don't be me.

MISTAKE #1 — SPAMMING SKILLS ON COOLDOWN
Your resonance skill does half damage outside the vulnerability window. Wait. Be patient.
MISTAKE #2 — BUILDING ATK% OVER CRIT
For consistent DPS characters, ATK% is great. For Xavier, it's a trap. CRIT scales harder during your burst.
MISTAKE #3 — GIVING UP TOO SOON
Xavier has the steepest learning curve in the game. Most players quit before they get good. Don't be most players.

Xavier isn't for everyone. He demands precision, patience, and practice. But if you're willing to put in the work — to learn the frames, to feel the rhythm, to trust your timing — he will reward you with damage numbers that nothing else in this game can match.

24 frames. Make them count.
