One Sentence: Every operative, every memory, and every boss in Love and Deepspace is aligned to one of six elements 閳?and matching or countering those elements determines up to 40% of your effective damage output.

The Six Elements

Love and Deepspace has six elemental types. Each operative has a primary element, each memory has an elemental alignment, and each boss has elemental weaknesses and resistances.

Light
Xavier
閳?/div>
Dark
Sylus
Frost
Zayne
Flame
Rafayel
Lightning
閳?/div>
閳?/div>
Water
閳?/div>

Each of the four main operatives (Xavier, Sylus, Zayne, Rafayel) has a signature element, but they can also equip memories of other elements. Lightning and Water currently have no primary operative 閳?they appear on memories and as boss elements.

How Element Advantage Works

Element advantage in Love and Deepspace is a multiplicative damage system. Here's the formula:

Advantage Bonus: When your element matches the boss's weakness, you deal +30% base damage. When your element is resisted, you deal -20% base damage. Neutral elements have no bonus or penalty.

Weakness Match +30% damage
Neutral No modifier
Resisted -20% damage
Stacking? Additive with other modifiers

This means the difference between bringing the right element and the wrong element is a 50% damage swing (from -20% to +30%). In Abyss, where every second counts, this is enormous.

Elemental Resonance Chains

When two operatives with compatible elements fight together, they can trigger Elemental Resonance. This is the core of team synergy.

Light + Dark Twilight Resonance

Xavier + Sylus. After 3 alternating hits, triggers a burst that deals 200% ATK as True Damage and applies Blind (enemy accuracy -15% for 5s).

Frost + Water Permafrost Resonance

Zayne + Water-element memory. After 3 hits, triggers Freeze (enemy immobilized for 3s, takes +25% damage during freeze).

Flame + Lightning Voltaic Resonance

Rafayel + Lightning-element memory. After 3 hits, triggers Conduction (enemy takes 15% of all incoming damage as splash to nearby enemies for 6s).

Light + Frost Crystal Resonance

Xavier + Zayne. After 3 hits, triggers Shatter (defense -30% for 4s, stacks with other defense debuffs).

Dark + Flame Infernal Resonance

Sylus + Rafayel. After 3 hits, triggers Combustion (300% DoT over 6s, heals both operatives for 10% of damage dealt).

Tip: Elemental Resonance can only trigger once every 8 seconds per pair. Don't stack two of the same resonance pair 閳?use different element combos across your three Abyss teams to maximize resonance uptime.

Operative Element Affinities

Each operative has a main element and a secondary element they can use effectively. Here's the full breakdown:

XAVIER 閳?LIGHT PRIMARY

Main Element: Light. All of Xavier's personal memories are Light-aligned. His skills scale with Light resonance.

Secondary: Frost. Xavier can effectively use Frost memories if Light isn't available.

Synergy: Light + Dark (Twilight), Light + Frost (Crystal). Xavier is the most flexible operative due to resonance variety.

Best Team Role: Main DPS or Burst Support.

SYLUS 閳?DARK PRIMARY

Main Element: Dark. Sylus deals bonus damage to enemies below 50% HP when using Dark memories.

Secondary: Lightning. Dark + Lightning creates a mini-stun effect.

Synergy: Dark + Light (Twilight), Dark + Flame (Infernal). Sylus pairs well with both Xavier and Rafayel.

Best Team Role: Executioner / Finisher.

ZAYNE 閳?FROST PRIMARY

Main Element: Frost. Zayne's freeze duration is extended by 1s when using Frost memories.

Secondary: Water. Frost + Water extends freeze even further.

Synergy: Frost + Water (Permafrost), Frost + Light (Crystal). Zayne is the king of crowd control.

Best Team Role: CC Support / Sub-DPS.

RAFAYEL 閳?FLAME PRIMARY

Main Element: Flame. Rafayel's burn damage ticks twice as fast when using Flame memories.

Secondary: Lightning. Flame + Lightning causes explosions that hit multiple enemies.

Synergy: Flame + Lightning (Voltaic), Flame + Dark (Infernal). Rafayel excels at AoE situations.

Best Team Role: AoE DPS / Burn Stacker.

Boss Weakness Reference

Knowing boss weaknesses is the single most impactful thing you can do before an Abyss run. Here's the current boss weakness table:

Boss Weakness Resist Best Team
Magma Golem Frost Flame Zayne + Water
Void Lord Light Dark Xavier + Frost
Shadow Vanguard Flame Lightning Rafayel + Dark
Arcane Weaver Dark Light Sylus + Flame
Corrupted Hunter Lightning Water Rafayel + Lightning
Abyssal Siren Lightning Water Rafayel + Lightning
Void Corruptor Light Dark Xavier + Frost

Element Matching in Abyss

Abyss floors change element requirements every rotation. Here's how to approach element matching:

閳?/div>
Check All Floors First

Before assigning memories, check the element requirements for all floors. Note which elements appear multiple times 閳?those are your stress points.

閳?/div>
Prioritize Weakness Match Over Set Bonus

A 4-piece set with correct element bonus (+30%) outperforms a 6-piece set with neutral element. Element match is worth more than any set bonus.

閳?/div>
One Element Pair Per Team

Each team should have one element pair (e.g., Xavier + Zayne for Crystal Resonance). Don't put three elements on one team 閳?you lose resonance opportunities.

閳?/div>
Cover All 6 Elements Across Teams

With three teams, you can cover all six elements. Spread your memories so that each element appears on at least one team. This future-proofs your setup against rotation changes.

Memory Element vs. Operative Element

A common confusion: memories have elements, and operatives have elements. Here's how they interact:

Operative Element (Fixed)
The operative's innate element (Xavier = Light, Sylus = Dark, etc.). Determines their basic attacks and skill damage type. Cannot be changed.
Memory Element (Variable)
Each memory card has an element. When equipped, the memory's element adds a secondary damage type to the operative. An operative can have up to 6 memory elements equipped at once.
How Stellactrum Matching Works
Stellactrum slots on a team require specific element-colored memories (Ruby, Sapphire, etc. 閳?which map to elements). Matching all 6 slots gives a massive stat bonus. See the Stellactrum Guide for details.

Strategy: For your main DPS, equip memories that match the boss's weakness element (for the +30% bonus). For your support, equip memories that trigger Elemental Resonance with your DPS's element. This two-layer optimization doubles your effective team power.

Common Mistakes

Mistake #1: Ignoring boss weakness. "My Xavier is level 70 so I'll bring him everywhere." If the boss resists Light (-20%), you're better off with a level 50 operative of the correct element. Level difference matters less than element advantage.

Mistake #2: Stacking the same element. Two operatives of the same element do NOT trigger Elemental Resonance. Light + Light is a wasted resonance slot. Always pair different elements.

Mistake #3: Forgetting resonance cooldown. Elemental Resonance has an 8-second cooldown per pair. Spamming skills doesn't trigger resonance faster. Time your bursts to align with resonance windows.

Mistake #4: Ignoring neutral elements. Lightning and Water have no primary operative, but they appear on memories and as boss weaknesses. Keep level-50+ Lightning and Water memories in your inventory. When a boss's weakness is Lightning, a Lightning memory on Rafayel deals 30% more damage than his native Flame.

The Bottom Line: Element advantage is not a bonus 閳?it's a requirement. The +30%/-20% swing means a correctly-elemented team deals 62.5% more damage than an incorrectly-elemented one. Check boss weaknesses before every fight. Build resonance pairs. Cover all six elements across your three Abyss teams. And never forget: in Love and Deepspace, element wins over raw stats every time.
